7.1 Tibet earthquake kills 53, thousands of homes collapse

In the case of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reporting a strong earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale at a depth of 10 km near the city of Xizang, China, on the Nepal-China border, there are reports of several countries feeling the tremors, including India and Nepal. Today (7 January 2025), China's Xinhua News Agency updated that the earthquake has confirmed 53 deaths and 62 injuries from the major earthquake in China's Tibet mountainous region. There are also reports of many buildings and houses, many of which have been damaged, most of which are about 2-3 stories high.
